Aurora Archive is a youth-led, non-profit independent magazine that wants to bring young writers together. Even if you wish to pursue STEM in the nearby future, who said you could give up your love for the humanities?

Below, you will find a comprehensive guide of all the staff positions we are currently offering at our publication. We are accepting serious applicants only!

— notes for all applicants: ✸ We are accepting volunteers from ages 13-19! ✸ All staff positions are voluntary and unpaid. There will be no salary or monetary compensation. However, we provide volunteer/community service hours and give certificates and letters of recommendation upon request! ✸ Anyone from all around the world is free to apply! This is a completely remote role. ✸ If you are applying for multiple roles, fill out the form multiple times. ✸ If you are applying for editorial/social media roles, all work must be original. ✸ All applicants are required to be online when their role is needed! (We give a lot of time for the volunteer work so do not fret!) ✸ All applicants are required to have Discord (our main source of communication!)

All available positions:

— EDITORIAL TEAM

1. Copy Editor
   • Strong grasp of grammar, tone, and structure
   • Able to give constructive feedback to writers without rewriting their voice
   • Identify and report any suspected AI usage
2. Submissions Reviewer
   • Review submissions and recommend whether each should be accepted or rejected
   • Organize and keep track of submissions in an orderly system
3. Staff Writer (Informational/Feature Articles)
   • Comfortable researching and writing clear, well-organized non-fiction pieces (science explainers, current events, interest pieces, etc.)
   • Can cite sources accurately and avoid plagiarism
   • Comfortable submitting work regularly (e.g. monthly or per issue)
   • Ability to collaborate with the Social Media Team!
4. Creative Writer
   • Can write original short stories, poetry, personal essays, or other creative pieces
   • Comfortable submitting work regularly (e.g. monthly or per issue)
   • Ability to collaborate with the Social Media Team!

— SOCIAL MEDIA & DESIGN TEAM

1. Graphic Designer
   • Can design promotional graphics, Instagram posts, article thumbnails, and so on (Canva, Adobe Design Suite, etc. all fine)
   • Design a minimum of 1 Instagram post per week
   • Design the layout for each issue
   • Ability to collaborate with the Editorial Team and Staff Artists!
2. Content Creator (Reels/Video)
   • Can film and edit short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) to promote articles/issues
   • Comfortable with basic video editing tools
   • Creative with trends/audio while keeping content on-brand
   • For content creators, you have the freedom to show your face! It is not required but it is encouraged by the team :D
3. Staff Artist

• Create the issue cover or a visual art piece in any form per issue
• Ability to collaborate with Graphic Designers to make elements/art for posts!
